There is currently a shortage of Cocoa which has unfortunately pushed the price of quality chocolate to its highest level. So inevitably the price to hire a chocolate fountain has risen. We have been doing this a long time and know all the ways possible to keep prices low. We understand that a quote which is maybe £100.00 less than all of the others will look really appealing. Just please be aware the company undercutting is likely using a cheap compound chocolate which is made using oil. With the current cost of living crisis everyone wants to find the cheapest price and get the best deal. We feel you should know the unsavoury ways to keep the costs down. 1. Cheap prices = cheap quality chocolate Cheap chocolate if often really thin and oily and does not have a luxurious taste. Thinning chocolate with oil makes it last longer and companies do this to keep prices low. Another way is to reuse chocolate from other events. The current shortage of Cocoa has seen the price of quality chocolate increase 3-4 times last year and more increases are expected in 2025. 2. Cheap prices = cheap dips With food prices increasing all the time, if you are quoted a cheap price you will get cheap quality dips. Some companies like to outdo others by offering 15 or 20 dips just to make you think you are getting a better deal. What you will get is lots of the cheap dips and less of the good quality expensive dips that people actually like to eat. The display may look really good filled with lots of dips but it will probably still be there at the end of the night. 3. Cheap prices = cheap Chinese fountains off ebay We have recently noticed there are lots of cheap Chinese made chocolate fountains for sale on ebay. These machines are not professional commercial machines they run really badly. We only use the market leading fountains made by Sephra. The best thing about Sephra fountains is they are the only machine on the market to melt the chocolate in the base of the machine. So no disruption of service when the fountain needs refilling. If the price looks too good (i.e cheap) compared to other quotes you have received then just be mindful, your chocolate fountain could be a big disappointment. Contact us for more information.
